Swimming Sports...
February 13
Seventeen fabulous swimmers from Year 5-8 took part in swimming sports against students from Rakaia and Ashburton Christian Schools.
Super proud of our team gaining 24 first places, 13 second places and 4 third places. Totally awesome effort that. Big thanks to all the parents who came along to support our team. From our results we will have 7 students who will take part in the next level of competition - the Ashburton County Sports early in March.

March 3
A team of seven totally amazing swimmers took part in the Ashburton County Swimming Sports, this time against the top swimmers from across Mid Canterbury. Our team represented their school proudly, gaining two 2nd placings (Ollie J Yr 7 Boys Freestyle and Backstroke). The Year 7 Relay Team of Ollie, Liam, Rebecca and Elliot had the most closely contested race of the day, with the lead changing several times - our team were in the lead at one point. They finished a very creditable 4th only 2 seconds behind the winners. All of our swimmers who had been to Counties before and posted times, bettered their times by huge margins, up to 15 seconds faster over 50m!! Rebecca and Elliot, were super stars as they tackled all strokes including butterfly. Awesome effort team.... so very proud of you all!
Choir...
6 March
Super proud of these 5 singers who are auditioning for the Representative Special Choir for this year's Ashburton Music Festival in June. Good luck and sing your hearts out... Diana, Sargam, Hope, Aaliyah and Jack. Hold your heads high and be proud.
Cross Country...
30 July
Eight of our finest runners took part in the County Cross Country at the Ashburton Showgrounds. Well done to everyone for tasking part. The 2 and 3km races were keenly contested and once again, the determination of Dorie students was one show. We had a number of top 10 finishers, including Ollie, who won the Year 7 Boys 3km event - totally awesome effort! For a number of our runners this was their first experience of Counties Competition, and they reckon they will be that much better prepared for next year!
Way to go Dorie!!
Congratulations... Ollie and Matthew, who will be representing Dorie at the Canterbury Primary Schools Cross Country Champs at the Haswell Quarry in Christchurch. Fantastic work boys - we are proud of you.
